Topell Energy is a manufacturer of torrefied pellets.
Torrefaction is a pyrolysis process in which biomass is heated up to 320 °C, in the absence of oxygen. The results of this process is that the biomass partly (especially the hemi-celluloses) decomposes and loses its fibrous structure, giving off various types of volatiles including the remaining moisture.
Topell Energy pellets are revolutionary in several aspects:
- First of all Topell Energy is world’s first large scale manufacturer of torrefied pellets.
- Secondly torrefied pellets are superior to conventional pellets in almost all important features.
- Finally all fibrous biomasses are suitable for torrefaction resulting in a higher feedstock flexibility and thus in the opportunity to process low valued raw materials to a high value biocoal.
